Founded in 1833, it offers a small-town feel with local dining, shopping, and agriculture. The district is situated in Lapeer County, acting as a gateway between suburban Metro Detroit and the Thumb area.

The district is noted for its high-performing staff, focusing on preparing students for the future. ACS is currently developing their five-year strategic plan in collaboration with staff, students, administrators, and community members.
